Post-Publication Discussions Policy

Post-Publication Discussions Policy

Mudra: Jurnal Seni Budaya provides a platform for structured, critical, and constructive academic discussions regarding published articles. This policy is implemented in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to maintain the accountability of scholarly discourse.

Forms of Post-Publication Discussions

Post-publication discussions may be conducted through the following mechanisms:

  • Letter to the Editor: Readers may submit academic comments, methodological critiques, or requests for clarification regarding published research findings.
  • Author Response: The authors of the original article are granted the right to provide an official response to critiques or queries raised by readers.
  • Scientific Rebuttal: Critical analyses accompanied by new supporting data may be published as independent response manuscripts after undergoing a peer review process.

Submission Criteria & Requirements

Responses or critiques regarding published articles must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Academic Substance: Feedback must focus on methodology, data interpretation, theoretical analysis, or the validity of findings, rather than personal remarks.
  • Language Use: Submissions must adhere to academic ethics, utilizing respectful, objective language free from defamatory elements.
  • Supporting Evidence: Every critical argument must be supported by valid scientific references, empirical data, or clear comparative analysis.
  • Time Limit: Letters to the Editor are recommended to be submitted within a maximum of 6 months after the target article is published.

Evaluation & Publication Process

All post-publication discussion documents are processed through the following workflow:

  • Initial Editorial Assessment: The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the eligibility and relevance of the submission within 7 working days.
  • Author Notification: If deemed valid, the Editorial Team forwards the critique to the original authors for a written response within 14 working days.
  • Peer Review: For substantial debate, independent peer reviewers may be appointed to evaluate the objectivity of both parties.
  • Linked Publication: Approved responses and replies will be published in an upcoming issue and digitally linked directly to the main article in OJS.
