Mudra: Jurnal Seni Budaya is deeply committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility and preservation of its digital content. We utilize cutting-edge archiving systems to protect published manuscripts from data loss and guarantee their perpetual availability for future researchers.
This journal uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to create a distributed archive among participating libraries. This system allows these libraries to regularly audit and restore journal content, which is stored locally.
Purpose: To ensure that the journal's content remains secure and accessible in case of server failure or other operational issues on the publisher's side.
Mechanism: Libraries hold their own copies of the journal and collaboratively verify their integrity, thereby protecting against accidental deletion or modification.
In addition to LOCKSS, Jurnal Mudra also participates in the CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) initiative. CLOCKSS operates as a distributed, fail-safe archiving service and a dark archive.
Purpose: To act as a trigger activated only in the event of a significant and permanent failure (e.g., if the journal is no longer published or accessible), at which point the content must be made publicly available for academic preservation.
Mechanism: Content is permanently archived on CLOCKSS servers. Should a trigger event occur, CLOCKSS will activate public access to the archived content, making it openly available under a Creative Commons license.
Through the combined archiving strategies of LOCKSS (for active use and routine recovery) and CLOCKSS (for long-term disaster protection), Mudra: Jurnal Seni Budaya guarantees that:
Content accessibility will be continuously maintained.
Digital data is protected from corruption, loss, or technical failure.
The scholarly legacy of every published article will be preserved for future generations.
