Mudra: Journal of Arts and Culture is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to exploring the dynamic intersection between the arts and cultural phenomena. The journal aims to publish high-quality research that critically examines the creation of artistic expressions and their engagement with cultural contexts. It emphasizes the ways in which artistic practices are both shaped by and in turn influence cultural frameworks.
The scope of Mudra encompasses a variety of artistic forms, including but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, literature, and digital media. It also considers the broader cultural dynamics that both influence and are influenced by these artistic expressions. In addition, the journal welcomes contributions that examine the impact of policy implementation and legal frameworks on the arts, such as the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and other juridical instruments that directly shape artistic production, circulation, and reception. However, the journal deliberately refrains from exploring anthropological or purely cultural studies that do not have a direct connection to artistic practices. Topics rooted in pure anthropology, such as marriage law, customary law, or other socio-legal frameworks, are not within the journal’s scope unless they demonstrably engage with artistic expression. This boundary is maintained to avoid epistemological ambiguity and to ensure that submissions remain aligned with the journal’s core focus on the arts.
Mudra is committed to promoting a deeper understanding of art’s role in society, as well as its evolving relationship with cultural forces. The journal serves as a platform for interdisciplinary research, fostering discussions on the complex ways in which art engages with cultural identities, social transformations, and global issues. It invites empirical research, theoretical reflections, and critical analyses that illuminate the multifaceted nature of art in the contemporary world.
