  • Lekesan: Interdisciplinary Journal of Asia Pacific Arts

     

    Lekesan: Interdisciplinary Journal of Asia Pacific Arts is conceived as a scholarly journal grounded in the lexical and cultural meaning of the Balinese term lekesan, which refers to rolled betel quid prepared as a unified composition with ritual, symbolic, and social functions. Within Balinese tradition, lekesan is not understood as a singular element, but as an integrated assemblage that brings together diverse components into a coherent, meaningful, and efficacious whole. This conceptual foundation informs the journal’s perspective on Asia Pacific arts and cultures as epistemic fields constituted through the integration of multiple disciplines, practices, and analytical perspectives.

    Building upon this framework, the journal positions artistic practices and cultural expressions as outcomes of the intersection between aesthetic, ritual, social, historical, and ecological dimensions structured within a unified analytical configuration. Analogous to lekesan, whose significance emerges through the interrelation of its constituent elements, the journal emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches that integrate visual arts, design, architecture, performing arts, music, media studies, visual anthropology, and critical cultural studies. Such integration enables comprehensive readings of Asia Pacific arts within localized, regional, and transnational contexts.

    Through this orientation, Lekesan: Interdisciplinary Journal of Asia Pacific Arts functions as an academic forum for theoretical, methodological, and practice-based contributions, while affirming the arts as living systems of knowledge articulated through relational structures. The journal seeks to strengthen the positioning of Asia Pacific arts within global scholarly discourse through critical analysis grounded in cultural specificity, epistemological depth, and academic rigor.

    Journal of Music Science, Technology, and Industry has been accredited by Natioanal Journal Accreditation (ARJUNA) managed by Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology/ National Agency for Research and Innovation,  Republic Indonesia with Fourth Grade (Sinta 4) since year 2023 to 2027 according to the decree No. 177/E/KPT/2024.
